The Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Dingyadi, has called on Christians to renew their faith for a greater Nigeria as they celebrate Christmas.

A statement by Mr Ossigbovo Ehisienmen, the Press Secretary to the Minister on Friday in Abuja, said the minister made the call in his message to Christians at Christmas.

Dingyadi extended his felicitations to Nigerian Christians at home and abroad on the occasion of the 2021 Christmas celebration.

He urged Nigerians to be hopeful of the country’s victory over the negative forces bent on threatening its peace, unity and security.

He said government’s commitment to reforming the nation’s policing architecture would remain unwavering.

According to him, this received greater impetus when the Federal Executive Council (FEC) last week approved upward review of salaries, allowances and other benefits for officers and men of the Nigeria Police.

He said the operationalisation of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund had seen the improvement of critical policing infrastructure with the supply of operational vehicles, arms and ammunition, bullet proof vests and helmets.

Dingyadi said other aspects of police reforms such as capacity building, intensification of community policing arrangements and advancement of technology and intelligence led policing were already receiving attention.

The minister expressed optimism that the arrangements would strengthen the war against criminal elements in the coming days and engender security in all parts of the country.
