Autopsy shows George Floyd tested positive for coronavirus

Autopsy report released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday has indicated that George Floyd who was killed by Minneapolis police officers tested positive for COVID-19 in April.

The deceased’s family had ordered the autopsy after it was established that Floyd had a heart attack while being restrained by officers.

According to TMZ, part of the 20-page reports said, “Positivity for 2019-nCoV can persist for weeks after the onset and resolution of clinical disease, the autopsy result most likely reflects asymptomatic but persistent PCR positivity from the previous infection.”

The autopsy concluded that George Floyd died of asphyxiation due to neck and back injury.

His death has now been classified as a homicide and the Minnesota Attorney General, Keith Ellison upgraded charges against Chauvin to 2nd-degree murder.

The three other officers on the scene, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane, and J. Alexander Kueng were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
