Chimraoke Nnamani tasks Youths on self development

The Senator representing Enugu East senatorial district Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, who is also a former civilian governor of Enugu state[1999 -2007] has tasked Nigerian Youths to work hard,as to be able to achieve their ambitions and visions in life. He said the prevailing economic crunch in the economy should not be seen as a barrier instead the Youths should think out of the box for innovative ideas to scale through.

Nnamani who described high rate of unemployment,poverty and Youth restiveness and the lack of critical infrastructure as the nation’s big challenge,advised the Youths that through dint of hard work they will still succeed.

Senator Nnamani gave this hints while answering questions from students of University of Nigeria Nsukka[UNN, at Enugu campus of the University[UNEC], as part of the public lecture he delivered with theme,’The State of the Nation’ on occasion of the annual leadership forum organized by the Medical Research and Humanitarian Society [MEDRHUS].

He maintained that hard work remains the ultimatum for the Youths to succeed in their respective endeavours,stating that as students if they are able to make it to the first class honours, the chances for higher studies abroad with incentives like scholarship maximizes. He stressed an intending entrepreneurs, the students can equally engage in menial enterprises like car washing in raising money to offset his school fees and other bills.

He blamed incessant youth restiveness in the country on demographics and cautioned that if nothing is done by government to address the situation, it could spell doom for the nation. He said there must be a clear roadmap towards addressing poverty and unemployment in Nigeria. He recommended that the youth service year could be increased from one to two or three years.

On his mission in politics,Senator Nnamani said it was borne out of his desire to serve the masses. He acknowledged that such desire has been very fruitful to a large extent through commitment and hard work. He said nobody gave him power in the sense that he was taking trips from America to Nigeria,almost every six weeks to understudy and participate in the democratic process,from the age of 36.

‘Nobody gave me power.It is God.I left America at the age of 36.I was coming home every six weeks. I was interacting with the elites. The lesson is that whenever I come back, the little money i have they collect it from me’.

‘It was very difficult. We funded the process. I became governor at the age of 38. We have a political class in Enugu now. Nobody gave it to us. We have a dream. If you dream it and work hard you can make it. The greatest power is brain power.You have to define your own legacy. If you are in a face,you will think of winning the race’.

Senator Nnamani said Agriculture can be made attractive for youths who don’t have job,stating Agrivulture can provide job for over fifty percent of Nigerian youths if there is good funding and abundant factors of production like land.
