Chelsea has corroborated that their 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder, Robert Kenedy, has retreated to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea disclosed this in a statement on its website ahead of its away Premier League tie with Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues recalled Kenedy from his loan spell at Flamengo.

The statement read in part, “Kenedy has been recalled from his loan spell at Flamengo.

“The Brazilian, who can play anywhere on the left side of the pitch, returns to Stamford Bridge after five months at the Maracana during which he made 18 appearances and scored one goal.

“In November he came on in the Copa Libertadores final, which Flamengo lost to Palmeiras after extra-time.”

Kenedy joined Chelsea back in 2015 from Fluminense.

He featured most often in his first season at Chelsea, playing 20 times under Jose Mourinho and then Guus Hiddink.

Kenedy scored twice, including a goal inside 40 seconds at Norwich City.
