CCTV Cameras to flood Unizik campuses for enhanced security, as Bionomics assures 50 years guarantee

For enhanced security at the four campuses of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Awka, the university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bionomics Nigeria Limited for the provision of 1,000 close circuit television ,CCTV Cameras for its campuses.

www.odogwublog.com reports that the MoU is in a bid to improve and enhance safety of lives and property within the four campuses of Unizik at Awka, Agulu, Okofia and Ifite-Ogwari.

The signing of the MoU, which took place at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference room attracted members of the University Management and Principal Officers led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, FSPN and the University Registrar, Barr. Philomena Okoye while the management team of Bionomics Nigeria Ltd, was led by the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Onyedika Ugochukwu.

While speaking at the signing of the MoU, the Vice-Chancellor Unizik, Prof. Charles Esimone described security as very essential component of the University’s progress and development.

He stated that it is in line with his vision of ‘Project 200’ with the mandate of very radical and administrative reform that will bring the town and gown together to meet the basic necessity of the University.

Prof Esimone further said that the project is highly innovative as it comes with no cost to the University, first of its kind and a testimony of the quality of graduates of UNIZIK as the progenitor is an alumnus of the University.

The Unizik Vice-Chancellor thanked Mr. Ugochukwu for his magnanimity while also stating that in the course of the project they will not experience any form of bottlenecks and bureaucratic rigours.

On his part, the MD/CEO of Bionomic Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Ugochukwu said it has been his passion to solve societal problems using technology.

Ugochukwu posited that the signing of the MoU will herald kick-starting of the project with the first stage being to mark out the points with the Chief Safety Officer of the institution on places where the CCTV Cameras will be fixed in the institution.

Ugochukwu explained that Fibre Optics, the most modern international standard way of connecting, will be used to ensure longevity of the infrastructure for the next 50 years. He also stated that the project will also generate revenue for the institution via advertising targetted towards the students while also thanking the University Management for the opportunity.

Also present during the signing of the MoU were the University Registrar, Barr. Philomena Okoye; Director, UNIZIK Business School, Prof. Emmanuel Okoye; Director, UNIZIK Business Ventures and Consultancy Services, Dr. Uche Ngenegbo and the Director, University Production Process, Engr. Prof. Christopher Ihueze.

  1. Inefficient use of the school money, there is no accommodation for students in the school and they are buying cameras,very stupid school management indeed.

  2. Installation of CCTV wouldn’t solve the problem of insecurity in awka rather I think it’s a waste of resources
