The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has recognized Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, Awka, for its use of the Computer-Based Training (CBT) evaluation method in its entrance examination and Preliminary Training Sessions (PTS).

This recognition underscores Millennium College’s commitment to excellence in nursing and midwifery education, setting a high standard for other institutions in the region to follow.

The college distinguished itself after it became the first in the entire Southeast to conduct an entrance examination and Preliminary Training Session using the CBT method for evaluation.

The method serves as a benchmark for assessing the knowledge and skills of nursing and midwifery students of the institution, ensuring that they meet the rigorous standards.

The college, an HND-awarding faith-based higher institution, was established by the Anglican Diocese of Awka, Anambra State in June 2022 in the vision of the Visitorto the College, His Grace, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim, PhD,JP, the ArchbishopEcclesiasticalProvinceoftheNigerandBishopAwkaDioces. Since that time, the college has recorded massive growth with intimidating achievements.

It would be recalled that the college at inception was given 75 quotas as against 50 given to new institutions. This, indeed, was a testament to the level of facility and infrastructure at the college’s disposal including well-equipped lecture halls, well-equipped demonstration halls, and ICT halls with modern gadgets.

To complement these, the school has enough structure for lectures, a befitting administrative block, two coastal buses, and qualified lecturers of a very adequate ratio, enabling the college to obtain 100% in their Mid-introductory examination, and also in their first semester year one examination.

Consequently, the surge of applicants desiring to join the college for nursing and midwifery programs has become immense, resulting in NMCN recently granting the college its request for resource verification for the Nursing department and full accreditation for Midwifery department to which the college scaled through and had their quota increased for Nursing and Midwifery departments.

The college has demonstrated its dedication to providing a comprehensive and effective learning environment for its students. Again, its emphasis on utilizing technology in education and ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenges of the healthcare industry has positioned it as a leader in the field.
