CAN Demands Release Of Nnamdi Kanu, Urges Churches To Pray For Peace, security

 The Anambra State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called for the release of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to restore peace in the troubled Southeastern part of the country.

The association under the leadership of Venerable Joseph Nweke made the call in a communique released to newsmen after extra ordinary meeting that held on October 19, 2021.

The communique noted that the association had observed that Youths are aggrieved by the events of injustices in Nigeria as well as the continued detention of the IPOB leader. 

It also stated that the detention had caused rising tension, wanton killings, destruction of properties and threat to lives and presumed doubts over the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

They resolved that government at should stand up to their primary responsibility of protecting lives and property of citizens and advised that attention be paid to observable grievances of aggrieved persons in the society.

While they acknowledged the efforts of the government and Security forces towards dousing the heightened tension, they appealed to all and sundry to sheath their swords and embrace dialogue.

The apex christian body also posited that the November 6, 2021 election should hold as planned for the best interest of the state, urging all relevant authorities to as a matter of good conscience and charitable gesture consider the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to ameliorate the untold hardship of the people.

They equally charged Christians to pray fervently for divine intervention in the IPOB leader’s detention and restoration of peace and security in Anambra State.
