Building Materials PG advise Soludo to allow Traders collect IGR bags Disabled, TIIJA awards

The President General, Building Materials International Market (BMIM), Chief Jude Nwankwo (Ochendo) has advised Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State to allow market leaders/traders to take charge of the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) collection in the market.

Chief Nwankwo who is one of the Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) patrons gave the advice shortly after receiving dual awards from Anambra Students Traditional Council National/NYCN Anambra Disabled and Turning Igboland into Industrial Japan of Africa (TIIJA) Project.

Nwankwo observed that many strange faces have invaded the markets in the guise of revenue collectors touting and intimidating customers and traders. He said that many who claimed to be working for the government are working for themselves.

“We the market leaders know everyone, every shop and are willing to ensure that every revenue that accrues to government gets into government coffers with proper accountability. If touts keep scaring our customers away, they may relocate to do business in neighboring States and Anambra will lose revenue.

“The presence of different faces of strangers or revenue collectors may bring bad name to our Solution Governor.We love his Excellency and we are willing to join hands with him to make Anambra a liveable, prosperous and secured state. We the patrons are willing to support him,” said Nwankwo.

Commending the BMIM Pg, Prince Chinedu Nsoffor of TIIJA project and Malachi Azuike of NYCN Anambra Disabled students said that they gave the award to Chief Jude Nwankwo out of exceptional leadership and for his compassion for the less privileged urging other leaders to emulate his selfless and creative style of leadership.

Moreover, as the market marked its end-of-year party were no fewer than 1000 destitute, and 14 traders were empowered by the leadership of Ogidi Building Materials market, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State.

According to the President, “thousands of destitutes and many orphanages were empowered with bags of rice each, toiletries, cartons of indomie, among others, to assist them celebrate the Christmas while 14 traders who suffered business challenges were presented with a cheques of Five hundred thousand naira each.
