Britain, Rwanda clash in £100m court dispute over scrapped migrant deal
Britain and Rwanda faced off at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague Wednesday, with Kigali seeking over £100 million it says London owes from a terminated migrant deportation scheme.
The 2022 plan, initially agreed under Boris Johnson, was scrapped by Prime Minister Keir Starmer in 2024 after legal challenges. Rwanda also demands £6 million for hosting vulnerable refugees and a formal apology for the deal’s breach. Britain disputes the claims, alleging political motives behind the case.
