3

Lagos State Government has ordered the closure of Dowen College in Lekki over the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.

The school will remain shut pending the outcome of an investigation.

Oromoni was allegedly murdered by students and there are fears that the culprits are on the run or left the country.

Gory details of the act have sparked outrage on social media with Nigerians demanding the arrests of the perpetrators.

On Friday, Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo announced the seal of the college.

A terse statement by the ministry’s spokesman, Ganiu Lawal, quoted her as saying state officials met with the school management and staff.

  1. Only God knows the direction of education in Nigeria

Schools have turned grounds for murder and death making me remember the phrase of Lucky Dube “they turn schools to prison”

    1. A serious investigation needs to be carried out if not it will give more room for more crimes in the school… On the other hand, students should learn to speak up when they are bullied or maltreated by their seniors. They should not die in silence. The school authority should create awareness for the students on who and where to lay their complents.

  2. Does shutting down the school ascertain justice for the dead?
Or is this a mere cover up to bury the matter….
