Benin Republic holds key elections
Benin Republic goes to the polls on Sunday for parliamentary and local elections, weeks after a failed coup, in contests expected to shape the April presidential race.
President Patrice Talon’s ruling coalition is tipped to consolidate power, with the main opposition Democrats barred from local polls and the presidential contest. The ruling bloc already controls 81 of 109 parliamentary seats.
