Armed Robbers Take Over Dilapidated Anambra Road, Rob With Ease – CLO

Daredevil armed robbers have reportedly taken over the dilapidated Umuchu-Umunze road, sequel to the portion of the road that has cut off the road for travellers and other road users at the boundary between Aguata and Orumba South Local Government Areas, Anambra State.
Lamenting the experience of travellers along the road on daily basis, the State chairman of Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Evangelist comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, urged Governor Charles Soludo to immediately rehabilitate the dilapidated road to curb the incessant violent crimes in the area at the bad portion of the road.
In a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Onitsha by Ezekwueme and his secretary, comrade Chidi Mbah, themed, “The primary function of government is for protection of lives and properties of her citizens”, they lamented that the road has been abandoned for months.
“Due to bad condition of some sections of the road, immediately road users slow down to navigate through the bad sections of the road, hoodlums usually use the opportunity to rush and rob, maim, kidnap and sometimes kill travellers plying the road.
“Only recently an indigene of Uga, Mr Umeugochukwu Chinaza Chijioke and unidentified lady who were traveling through the road were shot dead by yet to be identified unknown gunmen.
“There is urgent and immediate need to rehabilitate the bad portion of the road to forestall future occurrence of the incident that is barbaric and dastard act.
“We pray for eternal repose of souls of those who lost their lives in various violent crimes in the state and for God to give the bereaved families the heart with which to bear the irreparable loss.
Ezekwueme reiterated his earlier appeal to Gov.Charles Soludo to beef up security around Uga, Amesi, Umuchu ,Umunze roads and complete abandoned Ugwuakwu-Ibughubu -Umuchu road in Aguata.
“Also worthy of His Excellency urgent attention include, Porthharcourt road, Mbonu Ojike, Saniez, Iweka, Upper Iweka, Zik’s Avenue, Ochanja round-about, Miss Elems street, Venn road North and South, all in Onitsha,” he pleaded.
