ANSG Aims To Establish Central Motor Park

Proposals are underway by the Anambra State Government to create a central Motor Park in the State.

The Commissioner for Transport Mrs Patricia Igwebuike who disclosed this in the latest edition of ABS Radio and Television Programme Tonimas Half hour said visibility studies Will be conducted to ascertain the best place to establish such within the state.

Mrs Igwebuike said that the aim of establishing the central Motor Park is to decongest the roads of gridlock usually caused by drivers who pick up and discharge passengers along the highway.

She said that the central Motor Park will go a long way in improving the revenue profile of the state in addition to boosting its aesthetics.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Transport who also disclosed government plans to create a mechanic village in Awka cautioned Motorists against violating traffic codes to minimize the rate of accidents on the highway.

Mrs Igwebuike during the programme announced plans by the Anambra State Government to reposition the Anambra Traffic Management Agency ATMA and Vehicle Inspection Office VIO for efficient service delivery.

She called on Ndi Anambra to continue with their support to the Soludo administration in all its effort to develop Anambra State.

The Commissioner said that the Ministry in conjunction with the Federal Road Safety Commission will organise training for Motorists across the state on the need to obey road signs.

Mrs Igwebuike cautioned Tricycle operators and shuttle bus drivers against indiscriminate parking, especially within Aroma and Regina Caeli axis.

Some callers on the programme, Nwankwo Emmanuel from Ndiowu, and Reverend Innocent Oguejiofor from Inyi-Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State among others, Commended Mrs Igwebuike for her efforts to transform the Anambra State Transport Sector and called for its sustainability.
