Anambra: Suspected Rapist Arrested By Police At Unizik-Tempsite
A 36yrs old woman( name withheld) resident at Okochi Okpuno near unizik temp-site Awka was raped twice by one Emeka Okeke alias Aso Rock as she was coming back from a friend’s house in the night.
Narrating the story to the police of B Division Awka , the woman said the suspect approached her and threatened to shoot her with his gun tucked in his waist unless she submits herself to him.
However frightened by the sight of a gun butt and a threat to kill her, she obliged and followed him sheepishly to an uncompleted building where she was forcefully raped repeatedly at the scene and later at the premises of Okpuno community primary school thereafter the suspect left her and disappeared into the dark.
However, the rape victim went to the local vigilante group attached to Okpuno community and reported the crime and gave vivid identity of the suspect, immediately they searched for the suspect and luckily they caught him within the community. On searching him, a hand saw handle cut to size with a remembrance of a gun butt was discovered on him tucked underneath his shirt.
After identifying the suspect and subsequent interrogation that followed, he voluntarily confessed to the crime. The suspect was transferred to the police for prosecution while the rape victim was taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The commissioner of police CP John B.Abang.(Fdc) has ordered for the transfer of the case to CID department Awka for discreet investigation and prosecution in the court, he advised residents to obey the curfew order of 8:00pm to 6:00 am by the state government for their safety.
