Anambra State Govt Seals Madonna Mercy Maternity And Clinic Uruagwu Nnewi For Operating Illegally
The Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Health has sealed Madonna Mercy Maternity and Clinic, Uruagwu Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area for operating illegally since 2018, as well as operating with unqualified medical personnels under a dirty environment.
The Acting Director of Medical Services in the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu noted that the facility was sealed after a detailed inspection carried out by the Anambra State Health Facility Accreditation and Monitoring Unit where they observed several serious violations that established minimum standards for operating a health facility in the State, like the inability of the maternity to renew its operational license since 2018.
Dr. Chukwulobelu cited unhygienic environment which is unsuitable for delivering any form of maternal care, as the reason why they had to immediately seal the facility in order to save people’s life.
He further explained that the enforcement action is fully aligned with the health reforms vision of the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo who has made it clear that Ndi Anambra deserve only a safe professional and people-centred health system, under the leadership of Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike.
