Anambra State Government To Build Government Technical College Road, Umusiome, Nkpor
The Anambra State Government has promised to build the Government Technical College Road, Umusiome, Nkpor, in Idemili North Local Government Area.
The State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Okey Ezeobi, made this known when he visited the road alongside his Environment counterpart, Engineer Clems Aguiyi.
Addressing members of the Umusiome Central Landlords Association, residents of the area, and the management and staff of Government Technical College, Umusiome, among others, Architect Ezeobi said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is passionate about the welfare of the people and residents of the state, hence his numerous infrastructural and human capital developments, while regretting the deplorable condition of the road.
The Works Commissioner frowned at how most big businessmen and traders in various markets at Nkpor and environs are dodging the payment of taxes and levies, which he noted hinders development, urging them to always pay their taxes and levies as and when due to enable government to do more for them.
He assured the teachers and students of the Technical College that government will look into the big gully erosion threatening the school, to ensure that they teach and learn in a conducive environment, adding that Phases 2 and 3 of the road had been done by the government, and that the remaining Phase 1 will soon receive the solution touch of the Governor.
For the Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Aguiyi, residents of the area must stop the reckless dumping of refuse and other things that go against the environmental ecosystem to end incessant flooding, as well as building without approval that blocks many waterways, which he opined are some of the major causes of erosion.
In their separate remarks, the President-General of Nkpor, Chief Godwin Nnamdi, and Chairman of the Umusiome Central Landlords Association, Chief Dan Alaneme, all commended Governor Soludo for his good works, and appealed to the Commissioners to ensure that the road receives timely intervention as they have suffered untold hardship in the area, including their children.
Earlier, both Commissioners inspected the road to see things for themselves, as well as visited the big gully erosion inside the Government Technical College, Nkpor, where students and teachers equally recounted their ordeals, calling on Governor Soludo to come to their aid.
