ANAMBRA: Stakeholders score Soludo high on initial actions, declarations

Anambra State stakeholders have scored Prof Charles Soludo high on his initial actions and declarations preparatory to his swearing in to assume office as the sixth elected governor of the State.

The stakeholders made up of town unions, community women leaders, civil society organisations and livelihood associations comprising famers, artisans, traders, education and health sector workers responded to an on-line question to rate the popularity of the governor- elect based on his initial actions and declarations preparatory to assuming office as the governor of the State.

The poll was conducted by Civil Rights Concern (CRC), a nongovernmental organization and human rights watchdog that engages issues of governance to improve outcomes of service delivery to livelihoods.

According to the CRC executive director, Mr Okey Onyeka, it was to gauge people’s feelings on whether Soludo was taking the steps that would enable him take off properly, to lead him to where he wants to go and what he intends doing for the state.

He said the online rating was done using an online tool and a total of 69 persons responded; 39.13% rated him very excellent; 37.68% rated him very good, 23.19% rated him good. He also noted that the stakeholders did not vote any bad and very bad decisions taking so far by the governor.

Onyeka said one hundred percent of those who voted, gave Soludo their votes in relation to the governorship election result which voted him to power as the most preferred candidate to take over the government of Anambra State.

The director recalled that in the said election, Soludo won 19 out of the 21 LGAs, scored at least 25% of the votes cast in all 21 LGAs, and polled nearly half of the total valid votes cast.

While declaring his support to the new government to succeed, he restated that the group would not relent in echoing the feelings of the people, stressing that such would translate to balanced decisions by the government in proving people’s livelihood.

” We shall continue to provide the support for him to hear and know the cries of the ant as he makes progress in his government so that he would always take balanced decisions to improve the life of the poor, marginalized and vulnerable and the rich in the State.”
