A former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has explained that Anambra State forfeits N19.6bn each time a sit-at-home protest is observed in the state.

The Professor of Economics, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the upcoming November 6 poll in the state, said this during a meeting with elders and stakeholders in the state .

He called on those spilling blood in the state to have a rethink, stating that was not Anambra’s way of life.

He said, “Anambra state economy loses an estimated sum of N19.6bn every time the sit-at-home directive is enforced in the state.

” I call on the people of the state to be watchful. I praise the outstanding achievements of Governor Willie Obiano who has delivered sustainable legacy projects to Ndi Anambra, including the Anambra International airport; the International convention centre, Awka and the Awka stadium.

“The governor has done well despite overseeing two recessions and the state suffering dwindling federal allocations.

There have been killings and
destruction of property in the area recently by gunmen.

On Tuesday, Dr Chike Akunyili, the windower of the late Minister of Information, Prof Dora Akunyili, was killed at Nkpor by hoodlums who were reported to be chanting ,”No election in Anambra in November.”
