Anambra NSCDC nabs 4 with alleged adulterated crude oil

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra has arrested four persons allegedly conveying about 90,000 litres of alleged adulterated crude oil.


The new Commandant of NSCDC in the state, Mr Everestus Obiyo, disclosed this at a news briefing on Tuesday in Awka.
The NSCDC boss gave the names of the suspects as Mohammed Nuraddeen, Sani Zubaru, Abdullahi Lawal and Suleiman Mohammed.
Obiyo said the four were arrested while transporting the product.


He said operatives of the command also impounded two trucks with Reg. Nos. Kano KMC 466 ZQ and Kano KMC 116 ZQ, having Conoil inscribed on them.
He said that the drivers of both trucks were arrested on Sept. 23 at Ihiala axis on the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway.
Obiyo said that preliminary investigations by the command revealed that the suspects did not have licence to deal in petroleum products.
He also said that the trucks did not have permit to convey such commodity.

He said the suspects had “already confessed to the criminal roles they played” in the business, adding that they would be arraigned at the end of the investigations.


Obiyo appealed to the public to continue to assist the corps with relevant information on the activities of bad eggs in the state.
According to him, my operatives are combat ready to fight crime and criminality in Anambra.(NAN)
