Anambra Market Chairman donates school books to CAFE, Celebrates New Yam

The Caretaker committee Chairman of Ogbaru Main Market, Anambra State, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu has donated 3000 copies of branded exercise books to Caring Family Enhancement (CAFE) Initiative a Non Governmental Organization floated by the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano to support the vulnerable in the soceity.

Chief Ochiogu diclosed this to newsmen while celebrating new yam festival at his Country home, UruAmada Oraukwu Community, Idemili North local Government Area.

The market leader eulogized the Anambra State first lady saying that she has been a pillar of support to her husband, Governor Willie Obiano who has also achieved many Giants strides climaxed with the construction of the Anambra international Cargo-passenger airport, Umueri.

“Our Governor’s wife is a compassionate mother who derives joy in wiping the tears of the less privileged. Through CAFE foundation she empowers women and youths after skill acquisition, rehabilitates the mentally deranged, supplies prosthetic limbs to amputees, gives scholarship and schooling materials like books and bags to indigent children,etc. I simply decided to support her good works with a token of 3000 pieces of exercise books”, said Ochiogu.

Cutting the new yam, Chief Ochiogu who is a traditionalist thanked God for the abundant blessings (farm produce) He provided this year and prayed for more harvest next year.

“It is also a period of coming together of relations, inlaws, friends and well wishers especially those who rarely meet themselves and during such period, masquerades parade to thrill the people”.

He commended the traders from Ogbaru market led by Secretary General, Chief Bucknor Agu, Financial Secretary, Chief Paulinius Nwokedi, Chief Christian Ibe(DonChris), CSO Chief Ogbogu Nwanodi (Ugodinobi of Atani), Chief James Okeke and former Financial Secretary, Chief Emeka Apeh and other friends who despite their tight schedules made out time to be part of the Celebration and prayed God to lead them safely to their various destinations.

Earlier, a patron of the market, Chief Sam Mendu, commended the celebrant and prayed God to keep him to continue to celebrate the new yam festival.

Also the Secretary General of the Market, Chief Bucknor Agu, said that the Celebrant has done a lot to the traders since he assumed office as the Chairman of the Caretaker committee hinting that, ” Ochiogu is on Youth Service as a caretaker Chairman but we have resolved to elect him as the substantive Chairman of the market come January next year when the election will be conducted”.

“When He assumed office as Caretaker committee Chairman,as a priority, he opened all blocked drainage systems to allow for free flow of flood that has caused the traders nightmare”.

“The allegation that he blocked the drainage system at the new Plaza premises was an allegation of enemies of progress in the market”, said Agu.

Also reacting, the financial secretary of the market, Chief Paulinus Nwokedi commended the Chairman for the new yam celebration and prayed God to keep him to continue to celebrate the new yam festival that would be better than that of this year.

“Ochiogu opened all blocked drainage systems when he assumed office. There were 28 tipper load of refuse that were removed from the gutters. Again, 300 solar lights were installed in the market by the Chairman as part of the security measure he put in place. Infact, we have not recorded any serious theft since Ochiogu resumed Office”,said Nwokedi.

The relatives of the market leader who also showered him with blessings include, Ogbuefi Godwin Okeke and his mother, Mrs. Anthonia Ochiogu (Chikwadoluagbala)
