Anambra Lawmakers Summon Head of Service, Works Commissioner

The Anambra State House of Assembly has summoned some officials of the state, including Commissioners for Work, the Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice, as well as others, to appear before it on July 15 to throw more light on the reported sleazy process of recent employment at the Anambra International Airport, Ministry of Justice and other establishments of the state.
The visibly furious lawmakers whose interests, it is believed in some quarters, may not have been accommodated in the process, had resolved that the employment did not follow due process hence, should be cancelled.
They also ordered that no fund should be spent to pay salaries of such staff purportedly employed to work at the state owned Airport, Ministry of Justice and others, without their involvement and approval.
Consequently, the Commissioners for Justice, Works and State Chairman of the State’s Civil Service Commission, have been ordered to appear before the Assembly on July 15 at 10 am prompt for explanations.
In a unanimous resolution, they stated that, “Conclusively, the Anambra State House of Assembly shall be needed to re-authorize employment for the Anambra Airport and Ministry of Justice and thereafter, due process must be complied with”.
Every member of the House at the last plenary spoke in favour of the motion that the employment into Anambra Airport and Anambra Judiciary be canceled for lack of due process and the fact that it was hijacked and conducted against the knowledge of the House of Assembly.
The House therefore resolved thus:
That the purported employment or ongoing process of employment for the Anambra International Airport and Ministry of Justice did not follow due process.
That any employment already made or ongoing employment process for the State Airport and Ministry is hereby cancelled.
That no state fund shall be spent to pay salaries of staff purportedly employed or in the process of being employed at the State Airport and Ministry of Justice.
That the Commissioners for Works and Justice, and Chairman, Anambra State Civil Service Commission, be invited to appear before the House of Assembly on Thursday, 15th July, 2021 for explanations.
That another resolution of this Honourable House shall be needed to re-authorize employment for the Airport and the Ministry of Justice.
Reacting to the motion of urgent public importance which seeks to stop whatever employment made or process of employment purportedly ongoing for the Anambra International Cargo/Passenger Airport, member representing Dunukofia State Constituency and the Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, called for the injection of political hygiene to the system.
Hon. Ezeudu questioned the subterranean and improper way of handling employment in the state.
The lawmaker noted that it was a way of subtly playing down on the reality to have used the soft word “purported”, while it was a seeming reality that recruitment process had started without recourse to due process. This has happened times without number, and if I can be in the House with his people’s mandate and watch them denied their rights and privileges, that I will rather resign,’ Ezeudu said.
He supported the motion and insisted that whatever employment that did not represent the participation of the state’s thirty constituencies was null and void.
