Anambra Lawmaker Distributes over two thousand bags of rice to Onitsha Constituency one

About two thousand bags of rice have been distributed to people of Onitsha North constituency one, by the member representing them at the Anambra state house of assembly, Mr Douglas Egbuna.

The lawmaker also distributed other Personal Protective Equipment, PPE to the people to cushion the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on them.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent Uche Ndeke reports that the law maker is also constructing two community hospitals within the constituency one to cater for the health needs of the people.

There has been public outcry from both artisans and civil servants over the harsh effects of Corona Virus both on the economy and the health of the people.

This, according to the law maker, Mr Douglas Egbuna prompted him to go out of his ways to distribute hand sanitizer and hand washing buckets in all the markets within the constituency to encourage the people to observe personal hygiene as recommended by World Health Organisation and relevant Government agencies.

Mr Egbuna also known as Osite explained that the lockdown in the state made him take a step further by providing more than two thousand bags of rice to some of his constituents to cushion the effects of the situation on their livelihood.

He appealed to his constituents to always comply with the directives on Covid-19 disease, which are all meant to protect them from being infected.

The law maker noted that the construction of the two community hospitals, which has reached roofing stages would be providing healthcare services to the people to reduce the dependence on the general Hospital Onitsha which is presently being used by government as one of its preventive centres for Covid 19 pandemic.

Radio Nigeria visited the two health facilities located at Mba road and Isiokwe which according to Mr Osite will upon completion, contain up to thirty bed spaces, pharmacy shop, male and female wards as well as sleepover rooms for doctors and nurses.

A stakeholders in Onitsha North Constituency one , Mr Victor – Oye Nkiruka described the law maker as a capable representative, who had proved himself in various means and capacities.

Two other constituents mrs Ifeanyi Ofudume and Mr Johnbul Onwuma thanked their benefactor for his kind gesture especially remembering them in this difficult time.

Another beneficiary, Mrs Patricia Onwuegbuna described as unprecedented the law maker’s approach to leadership and prayed God to continue to protect him and bless all his endeavours.

The law maker used the medium to commend the Anambra state government for its efforts in containing the Covid-19 even as he applauded a former governor of the state and Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Mr Peter Obi, Senators Stella Odua, Ifeanyi Ubah and other worthy personalities for being their brother’s keepers in at this trying time.
