Anambra govt committed to fight against skin cancer – Barr. Ezewuzie

Chairman of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie has reassured people of the State that the State government is committed to intervening on plights of persons fighting skin cancer in the state.

Ezewuzie said this while addressing persons with albinism at an event marking Albinism Awareness Day celebration in Awka, Anambra State capital at the weekend.

Barrister Ezewuzie encouraged persons with albinism in the state to consider adopting individual campaigns to people in different localities of the state to help change myths and misconception about albinism issues.

According to him, ” People need to be educated on matters related to albinism especially parents.

“Alot of parents dont know their role to play in taking care of children with albinismf and live a healthy life style by avoiding those things that trigger cancer cells then you can live long and happy.”

Barrister Ezewuzie assured that the State Disability Rights Law is ever ready to intervene to any complain about discrimination against them because of their skin colour.

He futher advised members of the Albinism Community in the state to always ‘Say Something When They See Something’ by bringing  complains to Anambra State Disability Rights Commission,as necessary actions will be taken to bring justice to victims.

In her contributions, former Nigeria Ambassador to South Africa, Amb Uche Ajulu charged Anambra State Albinism Association to take their awareness campaigns to Ministries of Health,Education and other relevant agencies both in state and federal level advocating for rights of PWAs in the state.

It will be recalled on June 5 2021, some persons with Calvinism came together to form Anambra State Albinism Association and it is a recognised cluster with Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Anambra State Chapter (DRC).
