SDG Climate Champions Anambra Officially Launches Presence at Ekwueme Square Awka

The SDG Climate Champions Anambra officially launched their presence today 15th February 2025 at Ekwueme Square, Awka, during the regular Saturday morning exercise session. The group, trained under the Leave No One Behind (LNOB) partnership, took the opportunity to sensitize the general public on pressing issues including climate change and climate action, good health and well-being, reducing inequality, and stopping gender-based violence.

During the event, the team engaged with participants, promoting awareness of sustainable practices for environmental protection and social equity. Their advocacy emphasized the importance of collective efforts in addressing climate challenges and improving community health.

The highlight of the event was a discussion with Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) political party. Barr. Ezeokenwa expressed his support for the group’s mission and invited the team to his office next Monday for further sensitization and discussions on potential commitments to their cause.

In addition to public interest expressed during the event, several individuals indicated their desire to join the SDG Climate Champions team, showcasing growing community engagement with climate action and social advocacy efforts.

Moving forward, the SDG Climate Champions Anambra plans to conduct school sensitization and advocacy visits as part of their outreach strategy with a strong dedication to fostering sustainable practices, promoting health, and advocating for social inclusion across Anambra State.
