Anambra Governor’s Wife Visits People Displaced By Flood In Odekpe, Ogbaru LGA

The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo, today, visited Central School, Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area, where people who were displaced by flood in the area are currently taking shelter.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the governor’s wife to ascertain the living conditions of the camp residents, with a special attention to hygiene, dietary lifestyle and overall sanitary conditions of the environment.

It was also an avenue for Mrs Soludo to interact with the people and encourage them to see life beyond their current conditions as the state government is fully committed to their welfare.

Addressing residents of the holding camp, Mrs Soludo assured them of continued government assistance to ensure that they are well taken care of, urging them to use this difficult time to explore gains of community.

She equally maintained her appeal for people to reach out to those in different holding centres in Anambra State, expressing her belief that the challenges of the moment could be won with love and compassion.

Mrs Soludo also appealed to volunteers taking of the camps to maintain the highest levels of hygiene, dietary caution and environmental cleanliness, as diseases could spread in such conditions if not well managed.

On his part, the South East Zonal Coordinator of World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Chukwumuanya Igboekwu, pledged that the organization will assist the camp with a mobile clinic and drugs to provide free medical services and check household diseases in the place.

The governor’s wife also donated foods, sanitary products, beverages and cash to the the four holding centres in Ogbaru LGA.
