Anambra Governor, Willie Obiano Makes Fresh Appointment

Governor of Anambra State Chief Dr. Willie Obiano has appointed Tony Oneweek Muonagor the Special Adviser on Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Arts, Culture and Tourism. The appointment which is effective from today, 1st of July 2020, has been described by some as a case of putting a round peg in a round hole.

Hon. Tony Oneweek Muonagor, popularly known for his gyration genre of music, served between 2011 and 2015 as the member representing Idemili North constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly.

“In 2011, I was elected to serve Idemili North in Anambra State House of Assembly, then my political career took off”, he told newsmen.

Odogwublog recalls that he was elected on the platform of the then Action Congress of Nigeria- ACN and remained a member of the party until he joined APGA only a few years ago. However, before that time, Hon. Tony has been a scriptwriter, a director, even before he ventured into music for which he is most popular.

Reacting to his appointment upon resumption today, Tony expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano for the appointment. According to the Special Adviser in an exclusive interview with The newsmen, “I really appreciate the fact that Governor Willie Obiano found me worthy to be appointed to advise him on Diaspora affairs, indigenous arts, culture and tourism. I am believing God to maximally utilize my over twenty years of experience in entertainment industry in performing my duties. I am equally confident that my goodwill also will help.”.

Speaking on the mandate of his office and what Ndi Anambra in the Diaspora should expect, Hon. Tony assured that he is determined to reposition the office and use it to project Anambra people positively by working closely with the media to counter any bad publicity against Anambra people in Diaspora. “I want to project our image positively. I want to reach and galvanize Anambra people abroad. They need to know what the government is doing and how we can work together to build our state”,

Hon Muonagor told newsmen during the interview. Commenting on how his office will be of help to Anambra people in the Diaspora, Hon. Tony said, “Today as I resumed, I got a call from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Affairs; Hon. Abike Dabiri, who called to congratulate me. I am happy that I am connected to the national grid on Diaspora affairs. What I am saying is that we will leverage on our contacts with the national grid, experience and goodwill to serve the government and the people of Anambra state proficiently. I also invite artists to reach out to us, there is so much we can do together”, he said in conclusion.
