Anambra digitalises LG administration system, trains 5,000 staff on ICT

The Anambra government has said it is transforming Local Government administration from analogue to digital.

Mr Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, said this during an interview with newsmen in Awka on Wednesday.

Nwabunwanne said the measure is in line with evolving a smart and more efficient service delivery at all levels of government.

He said no fewer than 5,000 workers across the LGA service system would be trained on basic ICT skills to enable them process, document, transmit and receive information more officially and increased privacy.

The Commissioner said the training had commenced with the first batch of 1,000 trainees.

Nwabunwanne said the Gov. Chukwuma Soludo administration had returned peace in about 83 Anambra communities where traditional ruler stool and Town Union leadership issues existed.

He said the administration as a law abiding government had reinstated sacked Traditional Rulers and Presidents General of communities as ordered by the court while returning the election system for communities to option A4 method to ensure transparency.

Nwabunwanne called on the people to support the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra in the March 18 House of Assembly election by voting all its candidates for the 30 seats.

He said voting APGA would enhance the peaceful and sustainable progress going on in Anambra and save the state from the problem of executive-legislature rift which served no state any good. (NAN)
