‎As the world marks the 2026 World Tourism Day, the Anambra State Government has reiterated its commitment to using digital technology to enhance the visibility, preservation and development of tourism in the state.
‎
‎The Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Udoji Amedu, stated this in his message to commemorate World Tourism Day, celebrated annually on Sept. 27.
‎
‎Amedu said the 2026 theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” aligns with the Soludo administration’s vision of “Everything Technology and Technology Everywhere.”
‎
‎He noted that Anambra is endowed with numerous cultural and natural tourist attractions, including the Ogbunike Caves, Owerre-Ezukala Caves and Waterfall, Agulu Lake, Igbo-Ukwu Museum, Anam Sand Beach and Solution Fun City, as well as festivals, arts, crafts, cuisine and other forms of cultural heritage.
‎
‎The commissioner stressed that in the modern tourism industry, tourist attractions must be digitally accessible, properly documented and professionally promoted to enable potential visitors from across the world to discover and explore them.
‎
‎According to him, the state is currently updating the digital profiles of its tourist attractions to provide detailed information on their history, locations, cultural significance and available facilities. He, however emphasised that technology should complement the preservation and promotion of the state’s cultural heritage rather than replace it.
