Anambra community youths elect new exco, vow to deal with land grabbers

Youths of Oba community, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, weekend, elected an 18 man executive led by Hon. Ebuka Chibueze, as chairman, to pilot the affairs of the community for the next three years even as they vowed to deal with land grabbers in the community.

The election which was conducted at the community Civic Centre, was described by the chairman of the Electoral Committee, Chief Dozie Nweke, as free, fair and credible saying that, “The youths elected the candidates of their choice in the presence of newsmen, security operatives, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Amb. Arthur Obiora, among others”.

Hon. Chuba Oranusi, who administered oath of office on them, urged them to abide by the oath they took to work in the interest of the community without fear or favour.

Earlier, the chairman, caretaker committee of the community, Chief Osita I. Ubadi, urged the newly elected executives to assist the mother body of the community in the rapid infrastructural development of the community.

He expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election and commended the chairman of the Electoral Committee, Chief Nweke, who is also a member of the caretaker committee, for the peaceful conduct of the election.

In his post election speech, the newly elected youth chairman, Hon. Chibueze, reiterated his resolve to ensure that the community is moved forward adding that, ” The issue of land grabbers is now a thing of the past.”

“We have come to serve the community with all honesty, no criminal activities, including land grabbing will be tolerated. We will work to the expectation of our people and the mother body,” he vowed.
