Anambra Assembly urges Obiano to Construct Flyover at Regina Caeli Junction, Awka

The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to construct a two lane each way flyover with pedestrian provisions across the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway linking Expressway linking Regina Caeli and Dr. Okey Anueyiagu Roads of the capital city.

The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored to that effect by the Majority Leader and member representing Awka South One Constituency, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor during plenary.


House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that, sponsoring the motion Dr. Okafor hinted that the proposed flyover will ease both human and vehicular traffic at the Aroma flyover, majority contributed by motorists connecting Okpuno or Awka.


The member representing Anambra East Constituency, Chief Obinna Emeneka noted that the flyover if constructed will save lives, increase the business activities in the area thereby creating more jobs and wealth.


Speaker of the House, Mr Uche Okafor expressed optimism that the Executive Arm of Government will do the needful to arrest the heavy traffic that occurs in the area.


Also at plenary, the House passed another resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to direct the Commissioner for Works and the Managing Director, Anambra Road Maintenance Agency, to rehabilitate the failed portions of the Nneogidi-Agulu- Nise -Nwanchi-Agulu-by-pass-Obeledu road and Nwagu-Agulu junction.


The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored to that effect by the member representing Anaocha One Constituency, Honourable Ebele Ejiofor who lamented that the deplorable condition of the areas have caused untold hardship to the people and commuters who ply the route.
