By Julie Sylvia, Onitsha
The President General, PG of Building Materials International Market, Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Chief Jude Nwankwo(Ezeudo) on 5th Nov. urged Ndi Anambra, traders under Idemili, Oyi Zone to vote for Governor Charles Soludo’s re-election come November 8 gubernatorial election in the state for more developmental strides in the state.
He stated categorically that the governor’s Manifestos in his second tenure would turn the state into Dubai-Taiwan if he completed eight years in office.
Nwankwo said this during the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Trader’s Association,(ASMATA) zonal prayers for governor’s re-election which was held at Building Materials Markets for markets under Idemili zone, by Pastor Abraham C Nwachukwu from Grace of God Mission.
He noted that inspite of the gubernatorial election in the state, that everywhere is peaceful and calm as a result of the type of person we have as the governor.
He said “Don’t stay in your house and be declaring that Governor Soludo has won, wherever you reside, go and vote wisely and don’t waste their votes.
“Traders are not those who talk and do otherwise, we endorsed the governor at Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium, we don’t want another person in the market, the person we know is the person we know, tasted and trusted .
“On November 8, things will happen in Anambra State, what is happening in Anambra have not happened before, the presidency, governorship and councillorship elections have not being like this, nobody have seen this kind of election in Nigeria, it surprised everybody, even the governor, people are asking if it is true or staged.
“The governor is being given money because of his good works, Anambra State want to take over the campaign and leadership of Anambra State, to be our own, we don’t want in a situation whereby after campaigning, the person when elected diverted all states money into his personal pocket.
“What Ndi Anambra did was that communities, local governments, gave money for the campaign of governor’s re- election in support and for commitments, thereby informing the governor to remember them within his next four years” Nwankwo stated.
The President General reiterated that the governor brought security in markets, citing how he was being called on phone for collection of cash for ransom of the kidnapped members. He noted that such has not happened since Governor Soludo came in, saying that these are signs that something positive is happening. “I no longer hear of any shop being broken in the market.
Nwankwo further emphasized on the terrible state of Anambra State when Governor Soludo took over and how the governor went underground and came up with a homeland security law. “At a time, some masters and apprentices are no longer in the market, they were practicing oke-ite and others, thinking that they can get wealth through there.
“To get wealth, you have to start small, you have to start with apprenticeship first, nurture and save money, put interest, time, dedication, honesty and you make money, Soiled hands bring forth an oily mouth,(Aka aja aja n’ebute onu mmanu mmanu) that is what the governor is saying , and he has stopped those diabolic practices. it is being said in Abuja and other places but we, the grassroots know that things are now better.
“Juju wealth is being honest in your business, attend to your customers with truthfulness and supply according to what you bought, if you do it many years and before you knows it, you become rich, if you want to make sacrifices, give it to your brothers and sisters, your line members, give out, that is another strategy of making money because when you give out, God gives you more, He said that Blessed be to those that giveth than the ones that taketh”,Nwankwo posited.
Nwankwo, who is the ASMATA patron commended one of the Patrons, Chief Mark Aguiyi who was also the former Chairman of the market who relocated the market from Onitsha to its present location and how he handled the market challenges which resilience, courage, bravery during his time.
He mentioned that it was the governor that stopped the almighty hold ups along building materials market–ugwunwasike roads as a result of its deteriorated state by reconstructing them which they have been trying tirelessly to resolve but to no avail.
“Governor Charles Soludo constructed roads, government house, hospitals, fun city, employed teachers, medical personnel, all these are been done for us, traders because 85 percent of Ndi Anambra are traders.
“I have been solving the cases of high hospital bills for those who came for an assistance in my office as a result that they cannot afford it but recently such complaints are no longer heard because of the free antenatal, free child birth both safe delivery and caesarian section introduced by Governor Charles Soludo administration.
Nwankwo emphasized on security of the state, stating that the governor is spending excess on the maintenance of security which is the main need of every Igbo man, to give him the opportunity, enabling environment to strive and conquer.
In his appeal, Ezeudo said, “We want a pedestrian bridge for Provision, Bakery and Building Materials Markets, millions are crossing here every day by day, some are being hit by vehicles and died”,he appealed.
In his speech, the ASMATA PG, Chief Humphrey Anuna while appealing to traders to ensure they voted on election day and ensure their votes are counted, stated that the developmental strides by Governor Soludo is as clear as even the blind can testify.
He stated that no governor has worked on both infrastructural and human development but only Governor Charles Soludo, adding that he released N500,000 for 10,000 persons three weeks ago for second batch of one youth two skills, disclosed that he is preparing for the 3rd batch because he knows that traders wasted their capitals as a result of subsequent sit at home.
