Anambra 2021: ADP Guber aspirant vows to empower 75 percent of Anambra youths, Women

A governorship aspirant under the Action Democratic Party (ADP), for the November 6 gubernatorial election in Anambra state, Comr. Prince Afam Ume-Ezeoke, has pledged to empower over 75 percent of Anambra youths and women if elected governor of the state.

Ume-Ezeoke, stated this while briefing journalists during a stakeholder’s meeting at the party secretariat in Awka recently, noting that time was right to provide Anambra indigenes at the grassroots level, dividends of good governance and democracy.

The governorship hopeful who served as Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s youth leader in Anambra state during the 2015 General Election said that people of the state were suffering as a result of poor government attention to those at the grassroots level.

He claimed that past governors that ruled Anambra state subjected the people to perpetual poverty due to their unwillingness to engage those at the hard-to-reach areas of the state to experience a good taste of democracy.

He restated that people of the state needed government that would seek the interest of the grassroots and not central based, maintaining that the present state government was defiant and refused to organise local government election for the grassroots people in the state.

He maintained that Anambra state deserved a government that is all-inclusive assuring that his government would accommodate everybody, including the people with disabilities, further assuring that every local government will have representatives at the centre if he emerges victorious.

“The government of the state has done their best and we need to take over the baton from them and usher the development that Anambra deserves. Government is a continuous process but Anambra people deserve a government that gets people at the grassroots involvement in the governance of their state.

“We need good roads, water system, and quality education in Anambra state. Education is the bedrock of development.  We need to give education freely in Anambra state to discourage our children from getting involved in crimes and other social vices.

“We are trying to change the orientation of the people. People believed that when an individual is aspiring for a political position, must have a godfather. There is no godfather in ADP what we have is a collection of youths who desire better governance in the state,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the state party chairman of ADP, Chief Cornelius Ikechukwu Anonye, opined that the people of Anambra had yearned for change from bad to good. He maintained that ADP wanted to do a new thing also that they are not afraid that money politics have taken over Anambra elections. He, however, assured that the party will emerge victorious on November 6.
