Obi Azodo Foundation Distributes Funds, Educational gears To Beneficiaries

A Non-Governmental Organization Obi Azodo Foundation has shelled out funds and Educational gear to beneficiaries of the Obi Azodo Foundation Scholarship Scheme for the year Twenty-Twenty-one.

The event took place over the weekend at the Development Civic Centre, Ogbunike Oyi Local Government Area.

The Obi Azodo foundation, which has been running for the past seven years, reaches out to the poor and needy through its scholarship and empowerment scheme to alleviate their plights.

With over fifty persons on its payroll, ABS correspondent Faith Onyemuche, reports that the foundation in its twenty twenty-one scholarship scheme disbursed a hundred thousand naira each to seven undergraduates, twelve thousand naira each to ten secondary school students and seven thousand naira each to ten primary school pupils mainly for the payment of their one year school fees.

Speaking to the ABS, the chairman, Obi Azodo Foundation, Chief Obi Azodo said access to education is the right of every child, which a lot of them have been denied due to financial challenges hence, the initiation of the scholarship to give them financial support.

Chief Azodo, who frowned at the academic performances, of the previous beneficiaries said a lot of them do not take their studies serious and cautioned that the foundation will only support those, who are committed to their studies even as he advised the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity given to them for a better future.

Also speaking, the coordinator of the foundation Dr. Tony Isizoh said the beneficiaries were randomly selected from various villages in Ogbunike, adding that the foundation offers scholarship to students at all levels and is willing to sponsor students from primary to tertiary level, so long as the students are focused and committed to their studies.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Chisom Obigwe of Unizik, Nonye Okoye of Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, Chisom Mbamalu a JSS student, Chisom Ositadinma, a Primary four pupil and a parent, Mrs. Nkechi Azodo recounted the difficulties they faced in furthering their studies and thanked the foundation for reaching out to them.
