AMBASSADOR ONYEAGBA MEETS WITH THE GERMAN AMBASSADOR TO BURUNDI & OTHER DIGNITARIES FROM BURUNDI

…..As the date for the inaugural Nigeria-Burundi Joint Commission has been moved to 28th – 30th July, 2021.

As part of his diplomatic engagements and activities last week, His Excellency Ambassador Elijah Onyeagba PhD, the country’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Burundi, has continued to make his mark in his assignment.

During a visit with his German counterpart, His Excellency Amb. Dieter Reini, the German Ambassador took time to go through the history between Germany and Burundi from Colonial times till date. It was very enlightening to learn the origin of certain events, the story behind Buddy Bear (from Berlin) and the foreign policy of Germany as it relates to bilateralism and multilateralism. Germany’s hazy relationship with other countries like Poland , Turkey, France and indeed the Eastern European Region were also discussed

Furthermore, the Nigerian Diplomat received a young Nigerian who is the Director of operations of MeIBet in Burundi – Mr Jerry Olayinka.

Mr Jerry Olayinka is a young promising Nigerian, who speaks French fruently and has taken the betting business in Burundi by storm. The MeIBet guru two weeks ago, signed the first ever brand ambassador in Burundi.

Another diplomatic engagment this past week was the meeting of the Perm Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Burundi to harmonize and give final approval for the Nigeria – Burundi Joint Commission which was originally scheduled to hold from 19th – 21st July 2021 but will hold now from the 28th to 30th of July 2021 . The change of date was necessitated by the fact that both countries will be celebrating the Salah holiday during the period. Other engagements however remain the same.

The Nigerian Ambassador to Republic of Burundi, Amb.Elijah Onyeagba PhD rounded off the week by having the audience of the Vice President of the Republic of Burundi, Son Excellence, Eng. Prosper Bazombanza. Areas where existing ties could be strengthened between both countries were top on the agenda, beginning with the inaugural Nigeria – Burundi Joint Commission which will pave way for other collaborative initiatives.
