The Movement for the Actualization of The Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) has jointly told the National Working Committee  (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to allow the spirit of the late Biafra agitator, Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu rest in peace, insisting that the party is dead.

The groups made the disclosure while addressing newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Tuesday.

MASSOB stalwart, Samuel Njoku condemned the party for always using late Ojukwu’s picture as insignia to maintain the Igbo spirit but refused to give his widow, Bianca Ojukwu, the ticket to represent Anambra South in the Senate.

He said “we want to passionately appeal to APGA to stop ridiculing the name of our late leader, Odimegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu. APGA should allow Ojukwu’s spirit to rest in peace. They should stop using Ojukwu’s photographs and names for political campaigns.”

Further, he said “we urge Ndigbo to avoid APGA during the 2019 general elections. They should not vote for any candidate in APGA, because it is no longer an Igbo party. Ndigbo should ensure that the political businessmen in APGA stop using APGA to insult Igbo people. We don’t want any Igbo person to talk about APGA again. APGA is no longer a political party and it is not for the Igbo people. APGA was the one that brought out Bianca and they  also ridiculed her and that is a big insult to the Igbo race”, Njoku fumed.

The separatist agitators insisted that recent events have shown that APGA no longer represents the Igbo interests.

On his part, Okechukwu Nwaogu, queried how and why APGA’s former national chairman, Chief Victor Umeh was given an automatic ticket while Bianca, Ojukwu’s wife was refused.

He said “we wonder why Victor Ume was given automatic ticket to represent Anambra central in the Senate. Just recently, a brother to Governor Willie Obiano was also given an automatic ticket to represent Anambra North. But unfortunately, Bianca Ojukwu, widow to the leader of the party was denied ticket to represent Anambra South in the Senate and we condemn this”.

Nwaogu lamented that the party has become polluted, saying “APGA has polluted the temple of politics in the South East and therefore has come short of our expectation. APGA is now a dead party in the south East”, he maintained.

He explained that if Bianca Ojukwu is deemed unqualified to become a Senator, then the party should stop using her late husband’s picture henceforth.

The MASSOB/BIM stalwart said “Since Bianca Ojukwu is not qualified to represent Anambra South in the Senate according to APGA, they should henceforth desist from using Ojukwu’s photographs in any of their campaign posters. APGA is no longer a political party and it is not for the Igbo people”.
