Alleged husband killer, Ijeoma, 46 to appeal court sentence in Nasarawa

Following a high court 1 judgement ,which sentence one Ijeoma Okoye to death by hanging t on Tuesday in Lafia,the Nasarawa state capital, counsel to the accused have said ,they will appealed the judgement.

Ijeoma Okoye,46 years was alleged have poison and cut off her husband’s manhood in Nasarawa town of Nasarawa local government area.

The woman was reported to have been arrested in July 2013 for consciously killing her husband Late Innocent Okoye in Nasarawa town.

After series of court proceedings Justice Suleiman Dikko,the. Nasarawa state chief judge,having exhausted all angles,found the accused guilty of the the offence and delivered his judgement by sentencing Ijeoma Okoye to death by hanging.

But counsel to the accused,Barrister Markus Abu ,who hailed the wisdom of the court judgment,however said he and his client will seek redressed at the court of appeals over the death sentence passed by the high court.

” The court in her wisdom have passed a death sentence on my client ,but we will not stop at that but approached an appeal court.

” This because we have also seen that there are lapses in the handling the case,so we will apply for appeal judgement” Barrister Abu said.

However ,the state attorney general and commissioner of justice, Associate professor, Abdulkarim Kana, expressed satisfaction with the judgement of the high court,saying it was well delivered and will serve as deterrent to others.
