All Progressive Congress (APC) has condemned massive looting, vandalism of public, private property in the state by Hoodlums.

The Adamawa State chapter of the APC, has concluded plans to write official complaint against Governor Umaru Fintiri for issuing threats to one of its chieftains, Hussaini Gambo Bello Nakura and demand an unreserved apology from the governor over the unprovoked threat on its member.

A statement signed by it’s publicity secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi made available to newsmen, states that the party took the resolution during a stakeholders meeting over the weekend.

” We are worried over the threat to lives of ordinary citizens coming from those in Government.

” The Governor who is the chief security officer of the state was captured in an audio communication that went veral, threatening to deal with the Chairman of Adamawa Concern Citizens, Alh. Hussaini Gambo Nakura”.

This according to the statement, the victim confirmed the voice as that of the governor, just because he has discharged his constitutionally guaranteed right of freedom of expression.

” The statement also described the attempt by the Director of Media and Communication to the governor Mr. Solomon Kumangar to deny the audio even with the uniqueness of the voice of the caller just to rubbish the opposition and divert peoples attention from the shameful act as unfortunate”

” We say no to the concocted lies and urge the State government to stop further threats to lives of ordinary innocent citizens and wake up to their responsibility of protecting the security of lives and property of citizens as enshrined in the constitution which the Governor swore to uphold”.

” In view of the foregoing, we will officially write to the Governor through our Legal Adviser and demand for an apology for threatening the live of our Party stalwart while we explore the option of seeking for redress in a court of law”.

The party also condemed in totality the wantom vandalization looting and distraction of Public and private properties in the state by Hoodlums.

” We want to call on the good people of our dear state most especially the youth who are leaders of tomorrow to embrace peace and remain law abiding, stressing that looting, stealing, destroying property and lawlessness is not in our culture”.

” We shouldn’t allow others with unpatriotic tendencies to influence us, let’s unite and make Adamawa a peaceful state irrespective of our political differences, religious affiliation or ethnic considerations,” the statement added.

The party also said “this unprovoked massive vandalism and looting of private and public properties in the state is a negative tendency that can only spell doom for the state”.

” We commiserate with the Government and good people of Adamawa State over the unfortunate incident of the past few days.

” We strongly condemned the action of those who took the law into their hands and went on a looting spree of government warehouses and offices of state and federal government agencies.

” We felt much more concern because the theft and looting was extended to the property of innocent individuals who are helping in the economic growth of the state”.

The party however, blamed the government for the breakdown of law and order stressing that had the government handled sharing of the COVID-19 palliatives sent to the state in a transparent manner, such ugly incident would have been avoided.

” We however observe that, the ugly incident would have been avoided if the state Government had either distributed the various palliatives for the covid-19 found in the warehouses at the time the items were received or had adequately and transparently briefed the good people of the state stating what has been received as palliatives and when and how the items was intended to be distributed”.

” Such a step would have saved the State Government from being accused of hoarding the items and carrying out selective distribution as widely observed”.

The party commended the effort of the State Government and Security Agencies in restoring law and order after the unfortunate incident but strongly disagree with the assertion that the State Government didn’t receive any palliatives for covid-19 from the Federal Government.

“It is on record that the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Services, Disaster Management and Social Development was in Adamawa State to handover over 100 trucks of assorted grains/rice as palliatives donated by the Federal Government to the State”.

The Governor of Adamawa State openly appreciated the kind gesture of the APC controlled Federal Government and went a step further during the occasion to request for the completion of the Chochi Irrigation Project through the Hon. Minister.

” We also want to categorically state that neither the APC as a Party nor our numerous members/supporters in the State ever benefitted from any share of the palliatives that the State government claimed to have distributed in the State even with the receipt of the over 100 trucks of assorted grains/rice from the APC led Federal Government,”.
