STATE OF THE STATE:

  1. Congress condemned the recurring cases of sexual violence in the state including the recent case of gang rape of a minor at Onitsha, while calling on authorities to ensure that justice is not only done but to be seen as done in this case and in all other cases to deter offenders.
  2. Congress restated its sympathy for the flood victims in Anambra State and beyond while announcing that it will soon embark on a charity outreach to meet some of the needs of the victims in different parts of the state.
  3. Congress frowned at the unlivable state of the IDP camps where flood victims in the state are settled, noting that this has discouraged many persons affected by the floods from relocating from their communities. It called for establishment of permanent camps with essential facilities for better management of flood crises in future, even as Congress commended the Anambra state government in it’s efforts so far but urged the government to do more.
