UDWAAS Boss Commends Soludo, Expresses Confidence In Him

The Urban Drivers Welfare Association of Anambra State (UDWAAS) under the leadership of Prince Moses Ohanebo have lauded the new Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for suspended all revenue contracts and Touts operating in the parks, Markets and roads, expressing optimism that the former (CBN) Governor would indeed Proffer solution to Anambra State.
Speaking to newsmen in Onitsha Anambra State, the executive Secretary of the association, Mr. Ifeanyi Ogbonna who spoke on the capacity of the Union President, Prince Moses Ohabebo described touting activities in the state as I night mare to the inhabitants of the State.
He recalled that any thing partaining activities of “Agboro” had been a forgotten issues but touts became a hard nut to crack, expressing confidence in the new State Governor Professor Charles Soludo that any thing touts are now nipped forever.
He poured encomiums on the new Governor for taken bold step and banned touts, commending the efforts of security agencies especially Area commander Nigeria police Force Onitsha led by Mr. John Obuagbaka who he said enforced it and lodged serious attack to ensure that every nooks and crannies of Onitsha is free from touts.
Mr. Ogbonna further revealed that immediately they heard that State government has banned Revenue collections, they put radio announcements, circulated circulars to their drivers intimating them that State government has banned revenue collection until further notice and no driver should pay any money to any person.
” We have withdrawn our workers from the roads until government bring another directives. So, we are waiting for government directives before we start operating again, not that we do not have taskforce to eject those touts but let government give directives on the new modernities because we can not take law into our hands. If eventually we move out on the roads and something happens, UDWAAS might hold responsible.
Also commenting, the Upper Iweka Onitsha UDWAAS branch Chairman, Mr. Anthony Ugwube a.k.a Nwafada affirmed that they have formidable taskforce to chase away those touts but they are following the directives and government order, stating that they can not afford to thwart governments decision.
He suggested that government should set up permanent law enforcement team to be in charge of monitoring touts, just as two commercial motorists, Mr. Testimony Eze and Mr. Micheal Onyebuchi said, they have not paid any money to anybody since government banned revenue contracts.
