By Chioma Emerenini

The Chukwuelobe family turned Sunday, july 5th, into a day of triple thanksgiving at the Holy Family Chapel, at Holy family youth village in the outskirts of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, celebrated the 11th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Nwachinemere Chukwuelobe, the child dedication of their son; Master David Chinedum Chukwuelobe, and the 50th birthday of Mr. Osita Chukwuelobe all in a Mass coincidentally led by the family’s own son, Rev. Fr. Johnpaul Chukwuelobe.
The Mass begun with the dedication of Master David, after which the homily was delivered by Rev. Fr. Xavier Francis, who reflected with the congregation on the importance of looking up to God, rather than man, for help. Citing Matthew 11:28-30, he stressed “God remains ready and willing to help His people through their struggles”
During the mass, Fr. Johnpaul stated “the arrival of his nephew, master david is an added blessing to the family. Just like other children in the family before him”
.
Furthermore, Fr. Johnpaul while introducing his family said “God has been faithful to my family as this celebration isn’t only a child’s dedication rather it is the 11th wedding anniversary of the child’s parents and 50th birthday of Mr Osita, My eldest brother who came all the way from Abuja to celebrate with us” .
The celebration went smoothly but there was a short moment of unease that caused murmurings amongst the congregation during the Thanksgiving part of the service. Mr. and Mrs. Nwachinemere Chukwuelobe paused until the choir sang a song they liked which was quickly sorted out. It continued as a happy occasion for the family and the church community.
Mr. Nwachinemere Chukwuelobe in his remarks during a heartfelt appreciation said that “He was grateful to God for his blessings upon his family, thanked the holy family chaplaincy, his colleagues and customers from the ifite market, the ifeadigo age grade who came from onitsha and the other groups that came to celebrate with them”. A generous donation to the church as a token of gratitude.
During an interview, Miss Maureen (not here real name),a member of the chaplaincy expressed her displeasure on how Fr. Johnpaul, stressed “the child was an added blessing because he was a male child, whether male or female, child are blessings from God”.
Another member of the chaplaincy Miss Stella commented that despite being a big extended family, the chukwuelobe’s love and celebrate each other as she referenced Mr Osita who came from Abuja with his family.
