2026 World Environment Day: Anambra Government To Enforce Ban On Open Mechanical Workshops
The Anambra State Government will soon begin enforcing the ban on open mechanical workshops, especially in the major cities of the state.
The Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, made the revelation while speaking to journalists ahead of World Environment Day, which is celebrated annually on June 5.
Dr. Aguiyi said the enforcement is in line with the realization of the African-Dubai-Taiwan Silicon Valley (ADTS) vision of the state government, adding that the government will prioritize eliminating human activities that distort and have devastating effects on the environment.
He urged owners of mechanic workshops in urban cities to begin the process of fencing off their premises, as the government will not relent in ensuring that the state is not defaced.
The Environment Commissioner also announced that from next week, the ministry will begin marking buildings and structures erected on waterways and flood channels across the state for demolition.
