St Peter’s Anglican Church Oba women have decried the menace of killer herdsmen and bandits in Nigeria lamenting that instead of the Presidency focusing on stopping it they are busy strategizing for 2023 elections.

The President, Home and Abroad St. Peter’s Anglican Church Oba women, Mrs Chinyere Egwuenu sent the strong message while delivering her August meeting address at Oba, Idemili South, Anambra State.

“The security situation of this country, Nigeria is terrible. For about seven years now the bloodshed, killings, kidnapping, rape, burning of houses, sacking of villages perpetrated by killer herdsmen and bandits is unbecoming.

“Farmers are no longer safe going to the farm and this has resulted in the high cost of foodstuff. Our children are no longer safe in our citadels of learning because they are being kidnapped for ransom.

“Many children have died and have been molested in the hands of these herdsmen and bandits. Internally Displaced persons, IDP camps cannot contain displaced persons.

“It is quite unfortunate that instead of taking decisive steps to stop the activities of these terrorists our leaders are mapping out funds and arguing the party or Geo-political zone that will win the 2023 Presidential elections.

“Even our roads are no longer safe to travel. The presidency should forget about the 2023 elections and focus on securing the lives and property of her citizens”, said Egwuenu.

The Vice president, Lady Ngozi Onwuka noted that the suffering experienced by the masses was overwhelmingly asking the leaders to seek God’s face to find solutions to Nigeria’s problem.

“Last time there was EndSars problem but things are worse now. The masses are suffering. Let our leaders speak up. Let them embrace God for direction.
