The National Population Commission (NPC), Ebonyi, has urged eligible residents of the state to participate in the ongoing online ad-hoc e-recruitment for  the 2023 census.

Mr Darlington Okereke, the  Federal Commissioner of the NPC in the state made the call during a news conference in Abakaliki on Friday.

Okereke said that the authentic website is: 2023 census ad-hoc recruitment. nationalpopulation.gov.ng

Okereke said the recruitment was in line with the commission’s commitment to conduct accurate and reliable census for the nation come April 2023.

According to him, the commission has introduced the online recruitment in order to entrench fairness and transparency in its recruitment process.

“I wish to inform the people of Ebonyi, that the commission, through the online recruitment, requests applications from the following categories.

“The eight categories of the ad hoc staff include facilitators, training center administrators, monitoring and evaluation officers and data quality managers.

“We also need the services of data quality assistants, coordinators, supervisors and enumerators for the population and housing census,” he said.

Okereke noted that the number of functionaries to be recruited in each category would depend on the number of available vacancies, which would be derived largely from the total of the Enumeration Areas (EAs) in Ebonyi.

The Commissioner assured that majority of the ad hoc staff would be recruited from their communities for easy identification and conduct of the exercise.

He noted that the commission had established an e-recruitment team at the state level and a Local Government Area Recruitment and Review Team (LRRT).

“The idea is to ensure that prospective applicants in hard-to-reach areas are easily engaged for the assignment,” he said.

The Commissioner further reiterated the agency’s commitment to conduct a world standard head count.

Okereke pointed out that the quality of the ongoing recruitment process would reflect on the quality of the data to be collected and ultimately the success of the 2023 census.
