2022 budget: Sanwo-Olu’s administration keeping promises, to finish strong–Lagos APC

The APC in Lagos State on Monday, applauded Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration for keeping faith with promises made to residents, with his 2022 budget proposal.

The Lagos APC spokesman, Mr Seye Oladejo gave the commendation in a statement in Lagos, reacting to the 2022 Sanwo-Olu’s N1.388 trillion budget presented to the state House of Assembly for approval.

In a statement titled:  “Sanwo-Olu’s 2022 Budget of Consolidation: Keeping the Faith, Finishing Strong” , Oladejo said that the budget underscored Sanwo-Olu’s unwavering commitment to complete ongoing projects and tackle people’s challenges.

“The gradual build up from the ‘Budget of Awakening’ in 2020 to the ‘Budget of Rekindled Hope’ and now the ‘Budget of Consolidation’ has projected this administration as deliberate and focused in its determination to fulfill its electoral promises.

“The social contract consummated between the governor and the good people of Lagos state at his inauguration,  is being executed with fervour despite the peculiar and unusual challenges of the times.

“The Sanwo-Olu’s administration has indeed shown that governance is a continuum , true to its promise, by the completion and commissioning of a number of inherited projects for public good, ” he said.

Oladejo said that with a renewed vigor and passionate commitment, the administration had been able to put in place, mechanisms that had led to the gradual but steady recovery from the economic downturn occasioned by the COVID- 19 pandemic.

He added that Sanwo-Olu’s administration had also helped in the state’s recovery from the attendant wanton destruction of public assets occasioned by the October 2020 #Endsars protest.

The spokesman said that the most recent Sanwo-Olu’s achievements was the multi-layer car-park at Onikan to address specific needs of urban traffic management.

Reeling out various achievements of Sanwo-Olu’s administration, Oladejo said that security remained the foundation for all infrastructural developments, saying the administration had invested in security.

He said: “It is of great interest that the impact of the present administration has been felt in the 377 wards across the state.

“The T. H. E. M. E. S agenda which remains the focal point of the government is religiously followed in its choice of programmes, policies and projects.

“The mid-term report of the Sanwo-Olu’s administration was heartwarming for Lagos state APC as the ruling party.

“This received further endorsement and vote of confidence from voters across the state with our sweeping victory during the last local government election.”

According to him, various awards and honors from far and near to the governor are further attestation to the great performance of a government fiercely challenged but remains largely undaunted.

Oladejo said  the remarkable performance of the  2021 budget had been due to the judicious deployment of resources, innovations and prioritisation of the needs of our people.

He said the unrelenting efforts of the state government to improve the quality of life were best captured in the massive rehabilitation of roads, traffic management, provision of alternative means of transportation, improved and affordable healthcare services.

He applauded Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in the provision of decent accommodation through the various housing schemes, youth development and empowerment as well as support and investment in agriculture.

The spokesman said that Sanwo-Olu’s efforts had also been seen in infrastructural renewal, digitalisation of the education sector, stabilisation and restoration of confidence in the environment and a massive boost in the security of lives and property.

He applauded Sanwo-Olu’s massive investment in road, water and rail infrastructure to provide veritable alternatives for commuters and to boost economic activities, asides attention given to housing deficit and healthcare.

“Lagos state continues to prove its resilience with the swift replacement of the mass transit buses burnt during the EndSARS protest in order to ease the pain of the commuters.

“The state acquired 100 High Capacity buses, 300 nine passenger first Mile and last Mile buses.

“The proposed innovation of 1000 new taxi cars tagged: ‘ LagosRide’ to enhance passenger connectivity between inner and major routes is a welcome investment,” Oladejo said.

He said  the administration’s attention to youth-focused initiative, necessitated the disbursement of  N8 billion under the state Employment Trust Fund ( LSETF) to more than 12 businesses, creating more than 150,000 direct and indirect jobs in Lagos state.

Oladejo urged  residents to support the government in its quest to deliver these projects which might come with a time-bound little pain for our mutual gain.

He called on the house of assembly to pass the appropriation bill into law in good time to enable  completion of ongoing projects, initiation of new ones for Sanwo-Olu to finish strong. (NAN)
