Former National Electoral Commissioner ,(INEC) Prof Humphrey Nwosu has commended Governor Willie Obiano for declaring a one-day public holiday in Anambra state in memory of former President of Nigeria, Owelle Nnamdi Azikiwe, Zik of Africa.

Prof Nwosu was appointed by then military president, General Ibrahim Babangida as chairman of National Electoral Commission (NECON).

Prof Nwosu who spoke to our correspondent via Skype in his base in America, said the maiden celebration of Zik’s day was indeed memorable. 
He praised the Governor for immortalizing one of the great sons of Anambra state who left unmatchable legacies for the country.

Prof Nwosu who was also former commissioner for local government in the Old Anambra as well commended Obiano for introducing operation light up Anambra which has reduced crime rate and criminality in the state
Prof Nwosu from Ajalli ,Orumba North of Anambra state known for operation A4 electoral system lauded the launching of operation Kpochapu phase II and the introduction of Africa’s first super smart close circuit cameras for the state.He said the Governor’s procurement and distribution of security gadgets fitted 110 vehicles to security agencies in the state was unique for safer Christmas.

He admitted that despite paucity of funds available for development purposes , the Governor has mobilized for security of lives and property but appealed to him to mobilize resources and intervene in some of the roads during this Christmas season.

He further lauded Obiano for his timely interventions on  the victims of fire disaster at Ochanja market Anambra and for his introduction of Anambra Health Insurance Scheme which he said would make Health services more affordable to the citizenry.
