Zik Annual Lecture Series: Soludo Urges Nigerians, Africans To Uphold Zik’s Legacies

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has called on the Nigerian nation and the entire African continent to join efforts to enthrone true democratic, secure, prosperous and united society, where the rights of the people are protected and meaningful opportunities provided for the teaming youths as advocated by Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe while alive.

The Governor made the call during the thirteenth edition of the Zik Annual Lecture Series, held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Governor Soludo represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim while acknowledging the numerous efforts and sacrifices made by the late Dr Azikiwe for the betterment of Nigeria and Africa at large, harped on the need for Africa leaders to device means of making most of the dreams of the late icon a reality, ranging from ensuring good governance to making Africa a more united and conducive continent

Earlier in a speech, the Chairman on the occasion and Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, maintained that the legacies of late Dr Azikiwe are unforgettable to Africans and the world in general, saying that throughout his lifetime, the late Dr Azikiwe fought for the emancipation of the people of Africa, encouraging leaders to learn from his selfless services to humanity.

In an address, the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Bernard Odoh pointed out that late Dr Azikiwe was not only a Nigerian who led the vanguard for Nigerian independence but also an implacable Pan-Africanist, and assured to continue to keep supporting the lecture series in honour of the deceased and his legacies.
