World No. 2 Swiatek Given One-Month Suspension for Positive Doping Test
Poland’s Iga Swiatek, the French Open champion, has been handed a one-month suspension following a positive doping test. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced on Thursday that Swiatek had tested positive for the banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ) in an out-of-competition sample taken in August 2024. However, the ITIA accepted her explanation that the positive result was due to contamination, and that the test was not intentional.
