Women group constructs N2m culvert project in Cross River

The August Women Association of Aduma, Mkpani Community, in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River has constructed a culvert worth N2 million as part of infrastructural development of the community.

Speaking during the commissioning of the project on Friday, the Head of the Community, the Okpebi of Aduma, John Etta, commended the group for the initiative.

“I must commend you for this noble initiative and for successfully executing this project according to schedule.

“You have by this feat, distinguished your group from other associations in Aduma community, especially in the area of infrastructural development,” Etta said.

The traditional ruler said he would continue to support all other associations willing to execute developmental projects in the area and advised the women not to relent in the pursuit of set objectives of their association.

He called on them to take the education of children and wards with all seriousness, saying “in their hands lies the future of the community”.

The President of the association, Mrs Adiah Ubi, had earlier, said that they embarked on the project because of its importance to the people of Aduma.

Ubi expressed happiness on the timely completion of the project, adding that the association had executed other projects which included the awards of scholarships to selected primary school pupils. (NAN)
