Woman Seeks Divorce Two Weeks After Wedding, Claims Lack of Love
Wuraola Surajudeen has requested a divorce from her husband, Surajudeen Iya-Onitasi, just two weeks after their wedding, citing a lack of love and affection. Appearing before an Area Court in Ilorin on Wednesday, Wuraola explained that she had previously been married but divorced her former husband due to pressure from her mother. She shared that her former husband had become a religious fanatic after their marriage, which led to her parents’ disapproval. After being introduced to Iya-Onitasi, the couple initially got along well. However, shortly after their wedding, Wuraola said she developed hatred for him. In response, Iya-Onitasi told the court that his wife had left their home without his consent, expressing her desire to end the marriage. He also mentioned that despite several attempts, she refused to consummate the marriage, so he decided to leave her alone. The Presiding Judge, Hammed Ajumonbi, instructed the petitioner to return the dowry and adjourned the case until December 4, when a final decision on the divorce will be made.
