Woman arrested over alleged murder of house help in Anambra

Anambra state police command has assured that the case of a 25-year-old woman arrested for alleged murder of her house help in Nkpor, Idemili North local government area of the state would not be swept under the carpet.

The police public relations officer, Haruna Mohammed while addressing newsmen on Thursday at the State CID, said the assurance followed social media reports accusing the Police of compromise on the matter.

Mohammed said the suspect would be arraigned on Monday after conducting autopsy on the body of the deceased. He said, “I want to debunk the social media report that police is trying to compromise a case of alleged murder against one Mmesoma Okafor, 25years old of Nkpor, Idemili North local government Area of Anambra state.

“We want to inform the public that the statement is false, misleading and unfounded, and should be disregarded. Here is the suspect who on February 15, allegedly tortured her house help, Kosiso from Ebonyi and the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

“Autopsy is going to be conducted between now and Monday and the suspect will be arraigned on Monday.

The suspect, while speaking with reporters, however denied killing the victim, saying she already had scares all over her body before she was brought to her house. She said, “I didn’t toture her, she was already tortured before she was brought to me. I only spent 3 months with her. She came to my house with scares all over her body. She’s about 11years.

“I got the 11-year-old girl from a woman, Ikemesi popularly called Madam Simple who used to bring maid for people from Ogidi. She’s my father’s younger sister.

The suspect who said she was married with three kids, claimed she was unaware of the husband’s whereabouts since she was arrested.
